It officially opened on September 30, 2001, with a building area of 47,000 square meters and a design capacity of 4 million books, offering 1,657 reading seats.
As of the end of 2022, the library's total collection reached over 5.995 million volumes (items), including over 4.84 million books, 328,000 ancient books, and 690,000 periodicals. It also has over 4 million e-books and over 160,000 audiovisual materials and microforms. In 2022, the library added over 380,000 new books and subscribed to more than 5,000 domestic and foreign periodicals.
